PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Pilates is a physical conditioning method that is good for all ages, in all conditions. The exercises done in this class are done either sitting or lying on the floor. Joseph Pilates believed that one needed a healthy, strong abdominal wall to support the spine. With a healthy back, a person was free to do a lot more with ease. We work on strengthening the stomach muscles, increasing flexibility in the torso and legs, and strengthening the arms. The goal is to take your body and improve how you feel and how much you are able to do. All the exercises are modified to fit your body, at this moment. Plan on having more energy and feeling better in your everyday life when you take this class. You must bring your own mat to class.

INSTRUCTOR
Karen Kopf started studying Pilates in 1977 with Romana Krysanowska. She is licensed and certified since 2002 by The Physical Mind Institute, and currently works with private clients at Bodywork in Westport, Ct.
