Skating at Kirk's Pond

Someones legs with ice skates on
Kirk’s Pond, located on Route 67 near Town Hall, is open for ice-skating when conditions are safe. Before stepping onto the ice, please check the posted sign at the pond.
  • If the sign reads “NO SKATING ALLOWED,” the ice is not safe.
  • Skating is permitted only when the ice measures at least 4 – 6 inches thick across the entire pond.
Parks & Recreation staff monitor conditions and update the sign as the ice changes. Even when skating is allowed, please remember to use caution and skate at your own risk.

When the sign indicates “No Skating,” police and Park & Rec staff will be monitoring the area and will remove anyone attempting to skate on unsafe ice.

To keep the ice safe for the community, do not throw sticks, stones, branches, or other objects onto the surface to test its strength. These items freeze into the ice and create dangerous conditions. Any objects left on the ice such as hockey nets, sticks, or other equipment will be removed and discarded.

Thank you for helping us keep Kirk’s Pond safe and enjoyable for everyone this winter!
